Dr. LI holds a PhD. in petroleum engineering and a professional title of Principal Senior Engineer. He was also a visiting fellow at Stanford University from 2002-03.
Dr. LI has nearly 39 years of work experience in China’s oil and gas industry. From September 1999, he served as Vice President of PetroChina Southwest Oil & Gasfield Company, where he became President after 4 years. Dr. Li was then promoted as Assistant President of CNPC in April 2014. He held this position concurrently with that of President of PetroChina Tarim Oilfield Company from October 2016. From April 2018, he served as President of PetroChina Exploration & Production Company. Then, from June 2018 to March 2022 he served as Vice President of PetroChina Company Limited.
Over the years, Dr. LI has been in charge of international cooperation in the context of China’s domestic E&P operations and has therefore extensive cross-cultural and international leadership experience in key business segments of the industry. He has maintained a close working relationship and cultivated deep friendships with the top management of key IOCs, NOCs and service companies.
