The winners were announced on Thursday, 13th July, the final day of the 22nd World Petroleum Congress, during the WPC Excellence Awards Ceremony by H.E. Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Chairman, Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah International Foundation for Energy and Sustainable Development, Former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy & Industry, Qatar.
All the projects selected by the judges were showcased during the 22nd World Petroleum Congress.

Each category had two winners, one from an NOC or large business and the other to represent the work of small and medium size organisations. The following criteria were taken into consideration when assessing the projects:
WPC Excellence Awards for Youth
In recognition of the important contribution by youth to the energy industry, the World Petroleum Council rewarded the best young authors of the Congress. These were selected from the best abstracts submitted by young professionals under 35.
