As a legacy of the 20th World Petroleum Congress hosted by Qatar in 2011 and in accordance with the policy adopted at the conference, Qatar Museums Authority signed an agreement with the Qatar National Committee for the World Petroleum Council (QNCWPC) to set up an oil and gas gallery at the future National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ).
“We are delighted to be announcing our partnership with the Qatar National Committee for the World Petroleum Council. Through its future Gallery Nine dedicated to the story of Oil and Gas in Qatar, the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) aims to educate Qataris and residents about the history of Qatar and the way the Oil discovery shaped the nation since 1940,” said Dr Abdullah Al Sulaiti, NMoQ Deputy Director for Research and Collections.
The aim of this is to reflect the story of the oil and gas industry development and give visitors the opportunity to see all phases of oil and gas production, from exploration and development to processing and storage to transport and export.
This is how the Legacy of the 20th World Petroleum Congress will contribute effectively in preserving the Qatar national identity and will serve the community.
